In faithfulness go forward, And truth will be our watchword Our motto in the fray, our motto in the fray. Where the seagulls glide, In the breezes wild A nation new is born. All the lessons in your service learnt Our anchor in the storm. Milnerton, Milnerton our love for you will win, Milnerton Milnerton our love for you will win.

The first Milnerton School was opened in a boathouse at the mouth of the Lagoon and 25 Pupils were on the roll. Miss Baker was the first principal. There was no electricity in the building - candles and oil lamps were used. There were two rooms in the school. Opposite the school there was a weir over Diep River Lagoon which kept the sea water out. The railway line from Cape Town was very close to school - children travelled to school by train. The children were taught all subjects through the medium of English until Mrs du Preez joined the staff to teach in Afrikaans. |

Mrs Skinner was appointed principal. The Lagoon School continued for 37 years until January 1953. The Cape School Board hired the Milnerton Town Hall for educational purposes. Dr Venter was the school principal. He had two members of staff and the school had grown to 78 pupils, necessitating a move to a more spacious location on the Zastron Road site in 1953. |
