Ratanga Junction Theme Park

Ratanga Junction is a theme park in the Century City area of Milnerton, Cape Town. Its yellow twisting "Cobra" rollercoaster ride is clearly visible as one drives along the N1 National Road, next to the Sable Road turnoff. There are many tamer rides for children (and less adventurous adults) . There are also a number of restaurants and bars and a variety of evening entertainment in the grand hall, theatre rooms and cinemas.

Damages action by former employee

š In court papers, Melanie Abrahams, 22, of Bridgetown, says she reported for training at the theme park's food court as one of a group of 62 trainees when the blast took place on the 19th November 2003. She suffered severe burns to her hands and ankles during the explosion. Abrahams alleged in papers that the owners of the theme park, and its employees, were negligent and that this had contributed to the explosion. But the owners say that outside technicians were supposed to ensure that the gas installation was safe and that the necessary safety features were in place.
